"Saints and Strangers"
A book and a show
Earlier this year I found an inexpensive hardcover of George F. Willison’s SAINTS AND STRANGERS, which was a mid-20th century writeup of the Pilgrims at Plymouth and their history. Today I tackled the introduction before I went to sleep and think I’m in for a treat here.
There was a 2015 miniseries with this same title, I’ve watched most of it and it ties in well with what I’ve read about this subject over the years. The performances are good and the writers put effort into capturing the nuances of the individual figures. I’ll do a more detailed review in November.
Anyway, I’m immersing myself in this stuff as I’m writing ANSWERABLE COURAGE. More details as it unfolds. I’m about to the halfway point with this book. It’s kicking my butt so far but I will conquer it. I will.
