RED RISING: Can it be saved?

Last week I completed my fourth reading of Pierce Brown’s 2014 debut RED RISING, a book that simultaneously inspires and baffles me as a writer because of what came later. I wrote an in-depth opinion piece about this on Upstream. The short version is that his original trilogy blew my mind, and then books 4 and 5 confused and infuriated me to no end. Since 2019 I have encouraged people to only read the first three books. Why?
