Reading Recap, week 7
75% of what I was aiming for
I didn’t get as far as I wanted to in my reading list because an interesting legal case popped up, and I’ve been streaming that while at work. Nate The Lawyer was covering the Fani Willis investigation in Fulton County, Georgia. Nate’s a good dude, I like his work.
Anyway, I still knocked out these:
I reviewed it on YouTube. For this one, Child was like “aiight, we’re taking Reacher to Texas, he’s gonna deal with noble illegal immigrants, greedy ranchers, good ol’ boy networks, the Texas legal system, and a hot Mexican chick.” For those of us living in the 21st Century that sounds like a solid recipe for cringe, but this came out twenty years ago, it doesn’t do what a modern story would. 4/5 stars.
Also reviewed this on YouTube, boy I’m really on the ball. Beautiful prose, kind of a lackluster story, it was just there to show what wartime conditions were in the 1620s. 3/5 stars.
Haven’t done this one on YouTube yet, but it was pretty good, probably my favorite in the series. No real progress on the war against the invading fish aliens. This one is more of a heist, a celebrity hires some soldiers and mercs to raid a safe-deposit-box location in Beverly Hills, which is occupied by the Fish. Hijinks ensue. The plot twist was halfway predictable but still a strong entry in the series. 4/5 stars.
Aiight this week I will do my re-read of SERVANTS OF WAR, and knock out some other titles.
