A teenage boy camping in a tent. He's sitting in a sleeping bag, holding a glowing gem in his hand.

These are chapters from an old manuscript, chapter one is available here. The chapter and my annotations are paywalled for people who actually love me and also love freedom and puppies. So. Time to prove some stuff.

So, this is actually hilarious…there are 38 numbered chapters but somehow in this draft, I don’t have a chapter 37. I just botched the numbering because I’m utterly ruttarded. I’m laughing on the inside.

Chapter 38: Three Roads Home

Puk, Trinnia, and Redd sat on the back of the command truck, dangling their feet off the tailgate, slowly working their way through breakfast as the rebel camp bustled about them. The Enonites had cooked a few pigs in smoke pits, while Saroset and Daffil had led another excursion into the woods in search of vegetables and tubers. The result was a feast large enough to leave an entire army fat and happy, with leftovers besides.

It had been a few days since the destruction of the NetherFortress, and the Darbit forests were much thinner than before, now that the long-lost nation had returned. There was a lot of diplomatic stuff to handle on that front, but Redd wasn't worried about any of it. The Brimstones were a family and a business, not diplomats.

Sheriff Bazilla’s soldiers had helped the Company and the Order prepare for the journey home, and the time had come for them to head back. Within the hour, the fleet would roll out.

“Okay, so, big question time,” Puk said, in between licking sauce off of his paws. “What are you guys going to do when you get home?”
