As I’ve been brewing over these old chapters, it’s become increasingly clear to me that a prologue will best serve this story. Supposedly there are a lot of rules about prologues. I don’t care, I follow the rule of “make it cool and make it read well,” and also, “the rules can go copulate with themselves.”

I had a devil of a time making the AI art generator give the empress scaly red skin, so whatever. These are just meant to set a mood anyway. The actual book and art will have no AI in them.
