I read 16 books in April, and abandoned a 17th.
You might even like some of them.
Residue—Diamond. Superpowers versus the supernatural. Did a video on this. Recommend.
Frugal Wizard—Sanderson. TBH didn’t care for this one. Full review is here on the Stack, gotta be a subscriber though.
Colonel’s Daughter—Hirt. A bit of pulpy adventure fic about Kit Carson. Could take it or leave it.
Codex Babylon—Kroese. Backed this last year on Kickstarter, strong start to a time travel Crusades trilogy. I think Trevor is gonna do the Upstream piece.
The Courage to be Free—DeSantis. Figured I’d take a look at this guy, there’s a good chance he runs for president. Very relatable.
Tower of Silence—Correia. Upstream article forthcoming, gotta write a recap of the series though. Very strong installment.
Tin Can Tommies—Jones. Upstream piece forthcoming, very cool gearpunk WW2 book. Will read the sequel if Jones gets it out.
Fall of Gondolin—Tolkien. Beautiful piece of Middle-Earth history.
Easy Go—Crichton. Did a review here. Middling, but recommended.
Red Rising—Brown. Part of a re-read campaign. Brilliant novel.
Riptides—Pardoe. Sequel to Splashdown. Need to read these in print, they have pictures apparently, and it’s a mech series.
Dead Ringer—L’Amour. Semi-forgettable trio of tales.
Topgun—Pedersen. Origins of the program and a memoir of the OIC who founded it. Very good, highly recommend.
Xenos—Abnett. Another WH40k series. I need to get these in print, the narrator does a good job on audio but the recording levels are terrible.
Riding Roller Coaster—Hyde. History of Chrysler Motors.
Norwood—Portis. Guy who wrote TRUE GRIT. Kind of a disposable piece of short Southern literature, its strength its is voice and command of setting. Wasn’t bad.
The abandoned book was DEAD MAN’S HAND by James K. Butcher. I’m just not the audience for it, I’ve read too many books like it that were done more to my liking. Finished before hitting the halfway mark.
I’m going to do my monthly recaps here from now on, the videos don’t get a lot of traction and aren’t worth the effort compared to other stuff.
I should hit a similar count in May, we’ll see.
