A book about Bass Reeves...
...but it's kind of meh.
Aiight, so, Gary Paulsen’s THE LEGEND OF BASS REEVES made my best-of list for 2022, because it was really cool and also based on a true story. That made me want to know more about the legendary frontier marshal. So I found this!
And honestly…it was fine?
I mean it wrapped up and I wasn’t even underwhelmed, I was just whelmed. A perfectly whelming book.
Maybe that’s my fault because I expected it to be a nonfic breakdown of the man’s life, but no, the four authors on the cover are contributors to an anthology. This is just four fictional tales about Reeves catching bad guys in different and interesting ways. The content level on each story varies too.
Generally it’s an entertaining book, I don’t really know what’s true and not as far as it goes. A perfectly middle-of-the-road book. One of the authors lives near my town, so that’s cool. I guess.
Anyway. More exciting stuff this week.
